Thinking of getting one. Big nut to crack for just a body. I just hate paying FULL RETAIL which is what everyone has them listed for.

Anyone have one that has an issue with it? I know the write speed is slow, but I am not worried about that. I shoot raw and have to deal with that now.

Is the color saturation and highlight issues really that good (as I have heard)? From what I can see in samples the photos are great but I am wondering how much is doctored (post processing)?

I would like to see straight out of the camera pics posted or emailed to me if you can to dduggan@dugganstudio.com.

Just general overall opinions would be nice, good or bad.

Thanks in advance.

It doesn't matter what camera you use - you can't ignore post processing.

But the S5 will make it easier to shoot and you'll have a much better file to start with (particularly for b/w, which no one has really mentioned yet).

Oh I agree with post processing and I am in total agreement, it is not necessarily what you shoot with (Nikon, Canon, Fuji) it is in how you use what you have. I have been screaming that fact to the Nikon vs Canon (etc) debate for more years than some of you were even born.

I guess my main issue is are the files really that much better right out of the camera. I would never give a client a file right out of the camera, but if the files require less work to "fix" (let's say) and the colors are more saturated (I have heard) then that is a couple of post processing steps to reduce or eliminate.

I have heard so much about the colors, etc that I want to just not waste $1900 Just for a body if I am not getting that much better of a product. That is a lot of money to me.

all the good things aside about the S5. Here are my gripes.

1: you cannot view a shot/open up any menus until the entire buffer has cleared. If you have only taken one test shot then it is not a big deal. But if you just rattled off 10 shots you must wait X amount of seconds before the buffer clears before you know if you are blowing the crap out of your shots. And with a 25mb RAW file size that can be a long time. This is my main gripe. I am pretty sure other Nikon cameras can write/read at the same time

2: The sharpness is a bit weak. To its defense I had it set to no sharpening. It sharpened in post though. My bad.

3. I don't know if it was just me but it tends to not focus totally accurately with 1 or 2 of my lenses. this is really bad. But it could be just me.

The color is great.

Noise reduction is great.

body is great.

my two cents.

After lots of testing I decided that my Fuji S5 was front focusing with all my lenses.

I took it back and exchanged it. I have already noticed a huge difference in focus. the focus is now at the eyes instead of the front of the nose. Good thing I bought it in store.
