Lost just a few images to a corrupt Lexar this weekend - not a huge deal if we can't get them back - but am wondering what software you all have tried for these situations that you would recommend. I already tried Lexar's, and though it has worked for us in the past, it didn't this time...

I've used a program called "Media Recover" a few times and it has worked alright but I'm sure there are better apps out there now. I tried searching for where to get it but no luck...it's not the most original name...haha
anybody else?

Not sure if it will work with Lexar cards, but there's a software called "Rescue Pro" that helped me out a bit with my SanDisk nightmare. That might help you.
If you're ever really in a bind with HAVING to get images back there's a company called "L.C. Technology" that you can send your card to and they will attempt to get the images off. I sent in a card to them that I HAD to get images off of and they recovered virtually everything (even when my software didn't work.)

There is a program called PhotoRescue that will recover images, and I believe not just from cards, but from hard drives as well.
check it out:

Wanted to let you all know... I got my images back!! ACtually, Chris, the company that you mentioned, L C Technologies, has some software called Photorecovery that did a great job pulling the images from the card, this after having tried Lexar's software as well as the software that DJ had recommended. The cool thing was that I was able to download the program, and use it as a demo, and you could actually look at previews of the images that the program was pulling off the card and know that the program worked BEFORE I purchased it!!! So I would strongly recommend it!!! The link is
here.

I had a horrible night last night. I went to work on a wedding that I had backed up on dvd only to find that their all the same image. The file numbers are all correct, but the image is all of the very first image i shot. This happened on all 4 dvd's I burned. Has this ever happened to any of you?
I can't explain this, but i really started to feel sick to my stomach. Fortunately I shot Raw + small jpeg, so the jpeg files are fine. Better than nothing.
So, will the recovery software work on my cards even thought i have used them all on another wedding?
Thanks.

had a similar problem on a friend's wedding I helped him shoot. No, none of these programs will recover files if you have shot on the card again. If you format, you can still recover, but if you shoot, then no. (I seem to believe that if you have enough money, there may be people out there who can still get stuff off your card even if you shot on it, but I don't know how true that is...)
We ended up interpolating the Sjpgs to the same dimensions as a RAW file and things seemed to appear ok. Definitely not the same as having the actual RAWs, but better than nothing, and easily printable to 8x or bigger...
If you need suggestions on how to interpolate best, let me know.
You can now interpolate in 32 bit in CS2....

Thanks Tim,
Thank you for the info. I am so glad the the sJpeg's are ok. I almost lost my dinner I was so upset last night.

It wasn't until this morning that I remembered the sJpeg's.
I probably will be getting back to you when it comes time to do some printing.
Thanks man.

lol, good to have settled you a little bit... but keep in mind, the small Jpgs will be nowhere near the quality of the RAWs, and you won't be making super big prints from those...

Yeah I know, but at least they have something. Fortunately i think this couple isn't the type to buy big prints. At least they can have a lot of smaller prints in frames around the house.

Wanted to mention that Rescue Pro works with Lexar cards too. well at least on my 80x 1Gb it did. The thing is when it recovered the lost files, the Raw CR2 files were renamed to Tiffs. and it didnt really fully recover all the files though.
Either its time to rid off my lexar babies or theres something wrong with my 1dmk2.
