Full Version: Bridge Reset

I started using Bridge before I knew what I was doing (not that I'm an expert now but I've progressed) and think I've messed it up so much (my images are really cold, green and hazy) that I just want to start all over from scratch. But I can't figure out what to click on to get it to reset and STAY THAT WAY. I've gotten it to work for a few pictures (I think) then not on others or some then they don't stick. Whenever I open the RAW file to tweak the settings I want to see the OOC image before I mess with it (I think I'm nailing my exposures, according to the camera meter and histogram, so my images shouldn't look this bad).

As for saving presets (and it being an easy answer)... I don't want ANY until i get a handle on using Bridge without them. I kinda feel like I'm cheating if I use them without knowing how they work.

If this makes you feel better about helping me... I've been trying to edit the nilmdts images but each time the color is funky (it was in the hospital so they're greenish) then when I convert to jpg, open it in CS2 and look at it at 100% it's really noisy (speckles everywhere). I don't think I was THAT off in my settings TAKING the pictures that there should be that much noise.

What does "Auto" actually do? Automatically changes the image to what the computer thinks it should be or something else?

Sorry I'm such a nincompoop with this but I'm at the end of my rope and think I might go for the new bag of double stuffed peanut butter Oreo's. Save me sad.gif Please.

Yay Miguel dancingbanana.gif

Miguel called me (sometimes it's just easier to talk on the phone than type all this stuff out) and suggested some things. I'll post our results in case anyone else has the same problem.

To reset Bridge:
Select an image
FILE>OPEN IN CAMERA RAW or double click the image(s)
Click on the right arrow next to the "Settings:" section
RESET CAMERA RAW DEFAULTS
Back into that right arrow
SAVE NEW CAMERA RAW DEFAULTS

That's where I got stuck because it wouldn't allow me to chose that last command.
Click on that arrow again
USE AUTO ADJUSTMENTS (if it has a check next to it)
-then- it will let you
SAVE NEW CAMERA RAW DEFAULTS

However, I still seem to see the old, yucky raw images in Bridge even though I went through this process. I'm deleting the .XMP files thinking that will work.

Anyone have a tip for me? I want Bridge to open SOOC images without adjusting anything at all automatically (via presets or defaults that aren't what is SOOC).

Sounds like you're on the right track.

Next step: Lightroom. ;-)

Jen, that sounds confusing (although not as confusing as what I've been going through with this all day LOL)! Thanks for the tip.

DJ recorded a video and posted it somewhere with instructions on how to make settings like his 'brilliant' pack and save them yourself. I'd look for it and post a link, but I gotta shoot to get ready for....

FWIW there is no such thing as SOOC unless you're using the software provided by the camera maker (and even that is only 'close'). Adobe does their own conversion of the RAW file and it'll never be exactly the same as what a camera JPG would be.

outta here....;-)

I tried that but it thought and thought then gave me nothing. Hopefully it'll show up again and I'll take a looksie.
