Dear OSP,
Here is what I am thinking. I think that the classic wedding dress in the window shot is getting kinda old and boring. It works and the clients probably love them but as a photographer I get bored doing them and even boreder of seeing everyone doing them. Is anyone out there doing a different shot with the dress and would like to share. A picture or an explanation would be appreciated. Thanks.
Love

even boreder
boreder? Ok that's another new word for the day.
How about hanging from an old rusty child's swing set.

Thanks,
I love to make up new words. My fiance even gave me the title of Neologist, meaning new word. I make up words all the time. I really see no reason not to. If people understand what you mean then isn't it a word. Who decides what is and isnt a word anyway.
I like the idea of a dress in a forest.
Any more shot ideas.

Dude...sounds like a perfect opportunity to come up with something new on your own and get recognition for it.

If it's in the window I shoot it in the window, if it's somewhere else I just shoot it like I found it. I've made some of the best pictures when it was hanging by a picture or a TV, or even when it's just stuck in a closet.

In the days before the crash, there was one posted that has so far probably been my favorite of all time. It was by a fireplace (I think) and was shot from the side. And I think it might have been Belissima or Liesl Diesel who posted it. I dont remember the particulars, but I do remember the impression it made on my mind.

But if it blows down, will it make a sound?

I just take'em where I see'em!
It's a fun challenge to make the dress look artistic, as it hangs.

John, I don't even take that shot anymore. There is no rulebook that says you need a shot of the dress hanging on the door. That said, if your client want it, give it to them.
You could do some creative stuff before the day. "A day in the life of a dress". Take just the dress to interesting locales and take pictures of it in the context of the setting. A busy city street. A cafe... a nightclub! That would be fun.
