I was wondering if anyone who has ordered proofbooks from WHCC would be willing to share their experiences, advice, and even a picture or two if possible?
I have seen the pictures in the catalog. I am not sure what else I want to see that those pictures don't show, but if anyone has some examples they would be willing to share, I would really appreciate it.
I guess some specific questions I am interested in would be...
In an 8.5x11 book, does the 9 images per page make the images look way too small? How many images do you usually include per page in this size book?
Do you usually design your own cover, let them do it with one of your files or leave it blank?
What binding option do you prefer? Clear/spiral, frosted/spiral or none? Maybe I am an idiot, but if you select none, does that mean it comes as loose pages...I can't see how that would be a proof "book" if it weren't bound, but I have never offered them before so maybe you can shed some light.
Thanks for any and all comments or suggestions!

I don't use WHCC, but I can tell you that I normally print 12 images per page - 35 per page for shots of people dancing at the reception.
The shots have already been color corrected and the bad ones removed, so you don't need a large image. It's just for reference.

I use ProDpi's proofbooks which are the same thing (only cheaper...) They are great. I usually do 4 or 6-up per page (any more to me is too small) and create my own design for the cover. I like the semi-frosted cover with the spiral.
Here is a photo of one on my website:

Thanks John and Michele! Even though you guys don't use whcc, I appreciate the feedback. I will also check out Prodpi, thanks for the tip Michele.
I know there are a lot of whcc users in this forum...does no one use their proofbooks?

We use Millers for the proof books. They do a nice job and they are cheaper. For weddings we do an 8 1/2 x 11 proof magazine with 12 images per page. For high school seniors we do a proof magazine with 6 images per page.

You carry some really cute products! Do you mind me asking what companies you use for all your different books?
And for the thread, I use WHCC for almost everything, and I have yet to get a proof book from them. We switched to WHCC from millers and we're still using millers for our proof books cause they are cheaper. My assumption is they are pretty much the same. I do 9 a page for weddings and 6 per page for portrait sessions. Brides seem happy with the size, and it's never been an issue. The ones we get are black pages with a black binding, frosted cover and the cover page is simple with one image and their names and date. And if you select none, they just come as pages. I think they do that incase you have your own binding system or album you'd like to put them in. (i've forgotten to check the box to have them bound before and I've had to go to the local print shop to have them bound!) I'm not a big fan of the crystal clear covers as they tend to scratch easily and all of them have static and colect dust and it seems it's less evident with the frosted plastic.
Hope this helps!

I am trying to order one of these. But I am not seeing it in Roes. Do I have to FTP the files...I hope not, because everytime I use to FTP, I mess my order up, but if someone could please answer this...I would appreciate it.

Yes, you'll have to upload a folder with the images with FTP and then fill out the form on their site, rather than ROES. It's actually not too bad. If you have trouble, call CS and they'll walk you through it.
WHCC Customer Service rocks.
