Full Version: THE lab list

Eric Hegwer
I want to start a COMPREHENSIVE list of labs.

I'm sure everyone has feelings on their favorite (as well as bad experiences). I'm actually going to do an 8x10 test with 5 files (no processing, my color corection, their color correction if offered) this year. Sending the exact same 15 files to everyone I can find.

So let's start:

WHCC
http://www.whcc.com

Please include a link if possible.
Lynn Squier
Millers Lab

Mpix

Buckeye Color Lab

I haven't used the following, but here are some others:

Color Inc.

Bay Photo

Burrell Pro Lab

McKenna Pro Lab

Apollo Imaging

H H Color

Kingdom Color

Lustre Color
RyanEstes
ProDPI
Bellissima
nc tricolor

do you just want a list, or reviews, too?

i use WHCC - period.
Eric Hegwer
just a list. I know everybody has their favorites. I want to do a head-to-head-to-head personal comparison.
Bellissima
i also know of Kessler Color.

if you want someone to do iMount books for you - great reasource.

Tracy Rainwater
I use www.cpq.net
StacyC
Believe it or not (I know this sounds crazy) but I have REALLY been happy with what I've gotten from shutterfly.com
Kari

Wow, I think it'd be easier to just say

all the labs collages.net uses and all the labs Photoreflect/labtricity uses + whcc, burrell, mpix and millers. lol
Photomumm
Full Color Inc. (www.fullcolor.com)

I ahve been with them for 6 years, I LOVE LOVE LOVE them!!

The customer service is top notch, but they are a family owned business so they care about the little guys. They are expanding their offerings to include press products, but other than that they carry everything the other guys do, and did I mention their customer service rocks!!!
Eric Hegwer
thanks everyone - I know everybody loves their labs, but I just need the links.

Eric
Tim Halberg
Richard Photo Lab

are you going to be sharing your results here when you finish??

thanks a ton for taking the lead and doing this!!

I did the same with 5 files: my local lab, my nearest Costco and WHCC. I was IMPRESSED with my local Costco (download them on their photo site) and use them when I need something the same day at the last minute. I'm interested in your findings too thumbsup.gif
MeeksDigital
WHCC, Pixel2Canvas and Bay Photo
Tim Halberg
any word? have you moved forward on this?
Eric Hegwer
hey tim,

Yes, I have moved forward with this - of all the listed labs, I 've used 12 so far. Still working on it.

If anyone is a DWF member, check ou threads by Kristian Olson. He did a major test of all of hte big guys our there. Send test prints and interviewing labs to get the skinny.

It is a great read, and a very unbiased view at the industry.

And the best news, we were at the top!
