I havee been having the most frustrating and agravating problem with paypal and they have the worst customer service I have ever encountered. mad.gif it is like talking to robots. They don't even try to help you... just tell you what their demands are and either you comply with them or you complay with them.... you cannot even close your account unless you comply with their demands.

My paypal account has been confirmed and verified for more than a year from them. I have done hundreds of transaction through them without any problems. until january.

Out of the blue they limited my access to my account without any explanation. I have tried patiently to get some help from them and it is obvious that to work at paypal you have to place common sense at the door when you go in to work.

I have tried to findout the reason my account was limited to no avail. The reason... "the account is limited and has to be cleard" and if you insites on why is limited, they tell you that the reason is "is limited and has tro be cleared". The bottom line, we say so, and if you want to use us youhave to do what we say even if it is a mistake or rong or stupid... it does not matter... "we say so... that is that matter." The only answer the give is the same... "you must give us what we ask or you cannot use the account and not even close it" I cannot even close the account!!! So, either you comply with their demand or you are screwed!

Their customer service is basically, "the computer says this and this is what the manual say and that's it. I am soooo upset with them!!!

From now on I will not buy anything from anyone that requires a paypal account anymore. Either they accept my credit card directly or no deal. mad.gif

They want me to probe that I am me. Unless they give me a reasonable reason for requiring the info (other that "is our company and we do what we please) I will ot give it to them. They are not indispensable.

Too bad such a good concept has so bad service.

I had the same problem when I went to set up my merchant account with them. I called and asked why I couldn't be verified and they told me that I had to contact a particular department during normal business hours.

So, I did just that, got an email from them within 24 hours, signed a "I am who I say I am" paper, and send it in along with copies of my driver's license and ss card. I was clear less than 2 days after that.

Sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience with them.

Honestly, I think you're overreacting. I'd rather have Paypal verifying who I am than allowing some weird person to act as me, or anything like that. As a consumer, I'm glad that Paypal verifies merchants are who they say they are. Without it, I wouldn't have the same protection when buying. You certainly are entitled to have your opinion, but in the scheme of things, it seems like a reasonable request, to me anyhow, both as a merchant as well as a consumer.

its all to do with money laundering and account theft. i htink you should be glad they are going to such extraordinary lengths.

Have to agree with Kaitlin et al here.
In an age where Internet fraud is rising exponentially, I am happy that a company I use for money transactions wants to make sure it IS me making those transactions.

My feelings exactly!

FWIW, Quickbooks had our merchant account up and running in about three hours when we changed from DiscoverNetwork.
Works great and quick turn around.

The whole thing could be a scam. I get them all the time from Paypal (or they look like they are from there) I forward them to spoof@paypal.com and they write back saying that it is fake and don't worry about it. Never, ever reply to them directly, they also say to change your password, and check your messages after you have signed in. If it isn't in your message box, they didn't send it.

Prove who you are, but be sure it is them that you are proving it to.
