Ok, here's what I want.

I want to have some... plugin, software, module, whatever ... that will check a specific directory on my site for images.

Then it will display them or scroll them. preferably something scrolly or something nice. not just a simple gallery but something decent.

and it has to update automagically when I update that folder.

I know someone had this....I want it!

Well, there's Gallery...and similar progs, but they run on their own database instead of just searching a folder as you mentioned - not sure if you want to get that detailed, or how integrated you want it with your site... I know a few Wordpress plugins that do just scan the folder, and one of them may be based on something non-WP.

Oh, I see you've got WP for your blog...so one of the WP plugins might work for ya.
