Fantastic. The birds are so creepy.
Bernard, there are some lovely images here. Nicely done.
But... am I the only one noticing how sad and sick the dog at the garbage dump is? And from the looks of her she may have advanced mange, which is extremely painful for dogs. A little compassion people. Is this that far removed from photographing a bride next to starving children? How can we just say 'good job'? Nice dress, nice composition. And we're not talking photojournalism here and war zones or unbiased reporting of a circumstance. This was a fashion shoot. I don't know if I'll get hollered at for this but as far as I'm concerned... the addition of a traumatized animal, ears down and eyes narrowed in submission, whether or not she wandered through the shot of her own accord... that's not art. It's a disregard for the cruel existence that most of us are so fortunate not to suffer.
This is heartbreaking and, while there's some nice work here, I'm sorry I stumbled into the post, although clearly of my own volition. But chances are I'll be back wondering if my compassionate fellow OSPers share my sentiment...

Don't you think though, that's one of the things that makes the garbage dump set amazing - the contrast of someone who can afford to "trash" her dress, vs. the starving dog and the man who (I am guessing) makes his living dealing with/living with garbage. I see this as a series that says a lot about inequity and conspicuous consumption in our world. Maybe it is a fashion shoot, but fashion photography has often pushed the boundaries of what is considered acceptable. I love the honesty of these pictures. That's what our world is. People (and animals) who starve while other people buy a dress they intend to throw away after 3 hours.
