On request from one of my web clients last night for a nicer looking interface (than the ugly password protected folder dialogue box that the server displays) to present her Lightroom Galleries that she uses for proofing, to her customers - - - I decided to build this Simple Password Protected Client Proofing script that does exactly that. A webpage is displayed where a client can enter the supplied password, and then the script goes through the containing folder where all proofing galleries are stored - and if the password and folder name match, the gallery is displayed. This OnePage simplicity follows the way that I approach all of my scripts and web coding.

Here is a sample that you can try (3 gallery folders are in the container folder - - - they are "toronto", "benmiller", and "stcatherines" - and so those folder names are the passwords to use)

Looks cool. One question - is there a way for a client to mark images as favorites? Or ones they want to order prints? While I like simple, just looking without giving the client a way to do something with the prints may be cumbersome for them if they have to look through an entire wedding, write down the ones they like and then go back and look at them again...

For a small shoot it's prob not a big deal, but if you have 700 images to look through it would be overwhelming to a bride if they didn't have any tools tied in with it.

If you could tie this in with a way for clients to mark the ones they want, and then look at just those I think this would be something valuable for weddings.

I know you want it simple, so it's just a suggestion.

What you are suggesting requires a full blown Database driven Shopping Cart application. There are many of those available. I built this app for those like myself, who don't need a shopping cart application to display their proofs (or don't want to manage one or go to the effort of installing and setting up one) - and simply wish to have a good looking and efficient way to present a gallery of images to clients. That is how I present all of my wedding work to clients - with hundreds and sometimes thousands of images to view. The OnePageClientLogin proofing setup is DRAG AND DROP - making use of easily available Galleries like OnePageGallery, Simpleviewer, Lightroom Galleries etc - - - the different proofing galleries can even be MIX AND MATCH with these gallery apps.

This does look pretty cool. I know when I use my cPanel, it's sometimes cumbersome and doesn't always take on first set up, requiring me to log back in and reset.

Another question: I'm not an HTML person. I've set my web page up via Rapidweaver (a GUI driven web site builder for the Mac). It's pretty flexible as I understand in taking code and such. If I'm building out additional pages like galleries you're describing, could I slip in another page to house this script, creating the login page? (I understand it might be a stretch to ask if you're not familiar with RW)

I use LR and third-party gallery builders as well...very quick and easy.

The script could be adapted to fit in a webpage - although it is written in PHP coding language and would require consideration of that. You likely would not be able to do the modifications in a web design program.

As it is - the "index.php" script that does all of the work and provides the password gateway page, sits in a folder called "clients". Within that "clients" folder you would upload the Lightroom galleries or whatever other "Self Contained" galleries (that contain an index.html or index.php page) you use. The math and coding are accomplished based on this structure. To alter this structure, would require recoding the script.
